São Paulo state hires IFC to evaluate subway privatizations, concessions

São Paulo state hired the World Bank’s private sector arm, IFC, to conduct studies over two years for 62.5mn reais (US$12.8mn) on further subway privatizations or concessions.

Results should show whether concessions or privatizations are more suitable for lines No. 1-Blue, No. 2-Green, No. 3-Red and No. 15-Silver, a state spokesperson told BNamericas.

The IFC is already evaluating contracts in relation to the privatization plans of water utility Sabesp, a planned concession of passenger rail lines operated by CPTM and planned highway concessions.
