São Paulo seeks to attract French firms to concessions, privatizations
Brazil’s São Paulo state is seeking to attract investments from French firms for its infrastructure and energy transition projects.
The state’s investment promotion agency InvestSP signed a partnership with French counterpart Business France to forge closer ties.
“The partnership will present several opportunities for companies to bring their operations to São Paulo and participate in the state government’s privatization program,” the president of InvestSP, Rui Gomes Junior, said in a statement. “With the support of InvestSP, French companies have already announced more than 2bn reais [US$403mn] in investments in the state and we believe this number can grow significantly in the coming years," he said.
Earlier this year, São Paulo governor Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas unveiled 15 priority concessions and PPPs involving 180bn reais in estimated investments for the state's new private investment program (PPI).
The priority projects offer opportunities in the water, highway and urban mobility segments. PPI’s biggest project in the planned privatization of water utility Sabesp, which is the largest in Brazil.
