Scala starts operations of Rio de Janeiro datacenter

Scala started operations of a new datacenter in Rio de Janeiro with hyperscale capacity of 7.2MW.

The SGIGSM01 unit has one anchor hyperscale client. When fully developed, the site’s location, the São João do Meriti campus, will support 55MW of sustainable IT capacity, CEO Marcos Vinícius Peigo wrote on social media.

The unit uses the platform of Brazilian company Modular Data Centers

Scala has five operational datacenters in Brazil, with total capacity of 50MW. 

Five new ones are planned for 2023, three of which for São Paulo’s Tamboré campus, one is under construction in Jundiaí and one in Puerto Alegre.
