Press release from SENACE
Senace, through Directorial Resolution No. 00152-2024-SENACE-PE/DEAR dated November 29, 2024, approved the Second Technical Support Report (ITS) of the Tía María Mining Unit, submitted by Southern Perú Copper Corporation. This mining unit is located in the districts of Cocachacra, Dean Valdivia and Mejía, province of Islay, Arequipa region.
This ITS corresponds to minor modifications that the owner has planned to carry out within the project area. These modifications consist of the expansion of camps, modification of access roads to the mine and relocation of waste dumps, among others, which imply the generation of non-significant environmental impacts. The ITS has environmental management measures for its prevention, control and mitigation.
The ITS is an environmental management instrument necessary to carry out modifications or extensions that generate non-significant impacts on the environment, or that involve technological improvements in a project.
This environmental instrument complies with the provisions of the “Environmental Protection and Management Regulations for Mining Exploitation, Benefit, General Labor, Transportation and Storage Activities”, approved by Supreme Decree No. 040-2014-EM and its amendments, as well as the “Technical Criteria Regulating the Modification of Mining Components or Expansions and Technological Improvements in Mining Units for Exploration and Exploitation Projects with Non-Significant Environmental Impacts through a Technical Support Report”, approved by Ministerial Resolution No. 120-2014-MEM/DM.
