Sencinet boasts milestone certifications for Colombian datacenters
Telecoms and cloud services integrator Sencinet’s Naos datacenter in Colombia became South America’s first to be granted an ANSI/TIA-942-B certification related to the overall structure of the site, the company told BNamericas.
Located in Bogotá’s Tocancipá free trade zone, Naos was issued the ‘Facilities: Rated 4’ label, the highest level for this type of certification.
The ANSI/TIA-942-B model is considered one of the most internationally recognized datacenter standards. The Telecoms Industry Association (TIA) standard is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
Sencinet's other Colombian datacenter, Nimbus, was certified ‘Facilities: Rated 3’, also by ANSI/TIA-942-B.
Nimbus is interconnected with Naos, as well as with other datacenters in the region such as those of IBM, Lumen, Telefónica and Claro, through Sencinet’s high-speed metro fiber network.
EPI, an accredited certification body for datacenters in the ANSI/TIA-942-B standard, was contracted to carry out the audit and certification process for Sencinet’s sites.
“The recently announced ANSI/TIA 942-B certifications, as well as the PCI-DSS, ISO 27000 and ISO 9000 certifications renewed annually since their first issuance, allow Sencinet clients to be confident that their assets will be in safe and reliable condition,” the company said in a statement first sent to BNamericas.
Sencinet maintains four datacenters in Latin America, with two in Colombia and one each in Brazil and Argentina, in addition to five satellite teleports in Brazil (2), Argentina, Colombia and Mexico, and fiber networks in Colombia and Uruguay.
It also operates 21 points-of-presence (PoPs) in third-party facilities located in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Mexico.
