Santa Catarina, July 2024 - Senior Sistemas, a Brazilian management technology multinational, has just announced the acquisition of GAtec Gestão Agroindustrial, a technology company specialized in management solutions for agribusiness, which supports rural producers and agribusinesses in the complete journey of harvest: from planning, planting, harvesting, processing to negotiation. The transaction is part of Senior's strategy to specialize in high potential and strong growth segments.

With more than 23 years of history, GAtec has 300 customers in 10 different countries, serves eight of the 10 largest rural producers in Brazil and manages more than 9 million hectares cultivated with its solutions. The company has 200 employees with expertise in agribusiness and recorded net revenue of R$34.5 million in 2023, with average growth of 22% in the last five years.

Carlênio Castelo Branco, CEO of Senior, highlights that the acquisition is essential to expand the company's expertise in agribusiness. “We have expanded our presence with solutions for agribusiness in recent years and the arrival of GAtec reinforces our positioning as a supplier of a complete platform, bringing increasing productivity and innovation to agribusiness, inside and outside the gate”, he comments.

Paulo Novaes, Director of GAtec, reinforces that, together, the companies will provide the market with end-to-end solutions, with the aligned purpose of expanding the digital transformation of the sector. “We are excited to provide more innovation and strengthen Brazilian agribusiness through technology, now together with a brand as recognized as Senior”, he assesses.

Segment data justifies strategy

With a recurring presence in agribusiness in recent years, through solutions such as ERP, HCM for people management, backoffice management, access and security, TMS and WMS, Senior sees the potential for growth in agribusiness as positive.

Agribusiness currently represents around 24% of Brazilian GDP and, according to the Institute for Applied Economic Research (Ipea), it closed the first quarter of 2024 with an accumulated surplus of US$32.23 billion.

“Our strategy aims to specialize and compose a broad, robust and complete portfolio that helps the market overcome its challenges, and supports the growth of agribusiness. In this way, we position ourselves as a strategic supplier of cutting-edge technology for customers in the sector, in which digitalization guarantees business sustainability”, concludes Carlênio. Currently, Senior's technologies for agriculture are in seven of the 10 largest cooperatives in the country, in three of the five largest rice industries and in the largest coffee cooperative in the world.
