Sergipe bridge tender draws 16 offers

Sixteen offers have been submitted to build the Aracaju-Itaporanga D'ajuda (Mosqueiro-Caueira) bridge in Brazil's Sergipe state, the state government reported. Economic bids of those that meet technical bidding requirements are due to be opened this month, with the work order expected to issued in July. Names of the seven consortiums and nine companies were not released. The World Bank and local counterpart funds will finance the bridge that is budgeted at 55mn reais (US$22.3mn). Construction of the 1.08km, 11m-wide bridge is expected to take 400 days.
