The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport ( SICT ) will acquire 20 repaving trains and specialized machinery, with the aim of having greater capacity to attend to the maintenance work of the Federal Highway Network of the country.
This action will allow savings of 30 percent in the costs of routine maintenance carried out through the Bachetón Program and periodic maintenance.
With an investment of 850 million pesos, the agency will begin the tender for the acquisition of 20 repaving trains for road maintenance work under direct administration, which will speed up times and major execution processes.
The agency plans to acquire equipment that will reduce costs and speed up maintenance processes, including: high-tech equipment such as milling machines, compactors, spreaders, finishers and others that allow the laying of asphalt micro-covers.
This is contemplated in the National Highway Infrastructure Program 2025-2030, recently presented by Secretary Jesús Esteva Medina, who explained that machines will be purchased to extract the base, the sub-base, the lower layers, mix them with the upper layer and stabilize, which will result in significant savings.
It is worth mentioning that, as part of the conservation and maintenance tasks, patching, mapping, weeding and cleaning of ditches is carried out, tasks that are very important to extend the useful life of roads.
From November alone to date, the Bachetón Routine Maintenance Program has maintained more than 34,200 km of the Federal Toll-Free Highway Network; in addition, 233,100 potholes have been repaired on roads throughout the country.
