Six companies will operate Infovia 00 in the North of the country
This is a machine translation of RNP's orginal press release
The six companies that will operate, maintain and share Infovia 00 signed, on Friday (29), the contract for the open consortium of the Neutral Operator. They are: Aquamar, BRDigital, ClickIP/ICOM Telecom, SEA Telecom, Fortel/Wirelink and Telefonica . Now, each of these companies will have the right to make use and commercially exploit, for at least 15 years, a pair of optical fibers from the 770 km long subfluvial cable, deployed under the bed of the Amazon River by the National Education and Research Network (Rede Nacional de Ensino e Pesquisa). RNP).
“Finishing the constitution of this consortium is an important milestone for Infovia 00, and also for the Norte Conectado Program, as the model serves as a reference for the sharing, operation and maintenance of other infovias of the program, especially Infovia 01 , which is already being implemented and will start operating at the beginning of next year”, says Eduardo Grizendi, director of Engineering and Operations at RNP.
Infovia 00 connects the cities of Macapá (AP) and Alenquer (PA), with openings in the Pará municipalities of Almeirim, Monte Alegre and Santarém, with a total population of 968 thousand inhabitants. It is the pilot project of the North Connected Program, which is part of the Sustainable Integrated Amazon Program (PAIS). In return for the use of optical fibers, the six companies - operators and telecommunication service providers - will operate and maintain the entire infrastructure. The model chosen was the constitution of an open consortium of Neutral Operator, as all consortium members make use of the infrastructure, offering their services under equal conditions.
Infovia 00, from the Norte Conectado Program, connects Macapá to Santarém by fiber optic
The public sector will be able to use six of the 48 pairs of optical fibers existing in the cable, connecting universities, schools and public agencies to the high-speed internet, for example. Operating and maintenance costs will be borne by the consortium. At the moment, RNP is active in activating the connection between the campuses of the Federal University of Amapá (UNIFAP), the Federal University of Western Pará (UFOPA) and the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Pará (IFPA).
