Local SMEs boost export capacity after IIC workshop

Bnamericas
Haitian SMEs have increased their exports due to an improved capacity to access foreign markets, thanks to support from the Inter-American Investment Corporation's ( IIC) technical assistance program, the multilateral said in a release. The IIC teamed up with the American Chamber of Commerce in Haiti to hold a workshop on international logistics and commerce. SMEs received training in key skills required for the export market, with insight into customs requirements, export documentation and insurance issues, the release said. The workshop cycle is part of the IIC's FINPYME ExportPlus program, which was launched in 2009 to improve the export profile of SMEs in Latin America and the Caribbean, serving nine countries in the region.
