Snapshot: Brazil's oil and gas output
Brazil produced 4.324Mboed/d of oil in June, surpassing the record set in February 2023, when 4.183Mboe/d were produced, according to the local watchdog ANP.
The total extracted comprised 3.367Mb/d of oil and 152Mm3/d of natural gas, with offshore fields accounting for 97.6% of the oil and 83.2% of the natural gas produced.
Oil output was up 5.2% compared with the previous month and 19% higher than in June 2022. That was the highest volume of oil production ever recorded, exceeding the record set January 2023, when 3.274Mb/d were produced.
In natural gas, production increased 5.4% compared with the previous month and was up 14.6% compared with June last year. That was also the highest volume ever recorded, surpassing the mark set in October 2022, when 149Mm3/d was produced.
Output in the pre-salt in June reached 3.243Mboe/d and accounted for 75% of Brazil's output. That production was 1.5% higher than in May and a 17.5% year-on-year hike.
A total of 55.4Mm3/d of natural gas was made available to the market and flaring amounted to 4.58Mm3/d. There was a 10.7% increase in flaring over the previous month and 5.4% more than in June 2022.
Petrobras accounted for 63.4% of national oil and gas output, with total production of 2.74Mboe/d, followed by Shell (490,636boe/d), TotalEnergies (179,545boe/d), Petrogal (126,277boe/d) and CNOOC Petroleum (88,569boe/d).
The Tupi field remains Brazil’s largest oil and gas producer, having extracted 1,028Mboe/d in June, followed by Búzios (787,000boe/d), Mero (293,000boe/d), Sapinhoá (233,000boe/d) and Sépia (177,000boe/d), making up the five largest producing assets.
Petrobras is the operator of these fields, in partnership with companies including CNOOC, CNODC, Shell, TotalEnergies, Petrogal and Repsol Sinopec.
Onshore, the main producing fields in June were Leste do Urucu, with output of 48,000boe/d, Rio Urucu (44,000boe/d), Gavião Branco (12,000boe/d), Gavião Caboclo (10,000boe/d) and Canto do Amaro (6,000boe/d).
Gavião Branco and Caboclo are operated by Eneva, while Canto do Amaro is run by 3R Petroleum and the others are controlled by Petrobras.
The five largest oil and gas-producing installations in June were the Guanabara FPSO in the Mero field (248,391boe/d), P-75 in Búzios (203,373boe/d), Carioca FPSO in Sépia (201,249boe/d), P-77 in Búzios (188,080boe/d) and P-76, also in Búzios (187,731boe/d).
The ANP predicts that national oil and gas output will average 4.146Mboe/d in 2023, 4.579Mboe/d in 2024, 5.262Mboe/d in 2025, 5.862Mboe/d in 2026 and 5.972Mboe/d in 2027.
