Snapshot: Equinix’s pipeline of datacenter projects

US firm Equinix stands out as one of the most widely distributed datacenter and interconnectivity services companies operating in Latin America.

As of end-March, the company reported having 248 datacenters in 71 cities in 32 countries. Of this total, it had 107 datacenters in 29 cities across the Americas, with sites in Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile and Brazil.

In Brazil, Equinix recently announced the construction of a third site in Rio de Janeiro, as reported first by BNamericas.

As of mid-2022, Equinix had invested nearly US$2bn in Latin America since it began operating in the region in 2011.

For this year, Equinix’s global capex is expected to be in the US$2.7bn-2.9bn range.

BNamericas provides an updated list of the company’s projects in the region by country. Specific power capacities are not available in most cases.
