Sole bidder in Dominican Rep upstream consultancy call

An international public tender by the Dominican Republic’s energy and mines ministry for an upstream hydrocarbons consultancy contract drew one group.

The company was Geolog Surface Logging which the ministry has declared a qualified bidder, procurement information shows. Geolog’s offer is due this month and a decision is expected by December.

The work, a call for which was issued last month, entails carrying out a geochemical study of onshore sedimentary basins and places with natural emanations.

The ministry also has a tender underway to conduct an offshore geophysical study for the acquisition, processing and interpretation of high definition 2D seismic lines.

The results of the studies will be used to support future competitive processes to assign exploration areas.

The Caribbean nation’s first upstream licensing round was held in 2019 and resulted in the award of an offshore exploration block in the San Pedro de Macorís basin to Apache, now known as APA. The contract was signed the following year.

Earlier this year, the government inked agreements with Argentina and Colombia to promote oil and gas development.
