South American aluminum output edges down
Production of primary aluminum in South America fell 0.90% year-on-year to 110,000t in November.
Compared to October, output decreased 7.56%, the International Aluminium Institute (IAI) reported on Wednesday.
South American output dropped 6.36% year-on-year to 1.27Mt in the first 11 months of 2017.
The region produced 1.39Mt of aluminum over the past 12 months, while output in 2016 reached 1.35Mt, IAI data shows.
IAI's South America figures are for Argentina, Brazil and Venezuela, the region's only producers of primary aluminum.
Global primary aluminum production totaled 4.71Mt in November, down from 5.15Mt in the same month of 2016, IAI said. Global output in 2016 reached 58.9Mt.
