Spain’s Eductrade reportedly wins border complex contract in Costa Rica

Spanish company Eductrade has won a contract worth 53.9mn euros (US$52.6mn) for a border complex project in Costa Rica, reports Europa Press.

Eductrade will refurbish facilities and construct buildings with an extension of more than 20,000m2 at the Peñas Blancas border complex in Guanacaste province, on the border with Nicaragua, according to the report.

The contract also includes over 72,000m2 of streets and 9,000m2 of sidewalks, the report said.

It will be the second border crossing project for Eductrade in Costa Rica after the US$30.3mn Paso Canoas project, on the border with Panama, according to the report.

The projects are part of a border integration program known as PIF to boost Costa Rica’s competitiveness through the modernization of its border infrastructure, which counts on financing from the IDB.
