Staatsolie and Petrobras sign Memorandum of Understanding
Staatsolie release
Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V. (Staatsolie) and the Brazilian state oil and gas company Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobras) on 26 September 2024 signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
By signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Staatsolie and Petrobras have formalized their intention to explore cooperation opportunities in specific areas. This concerns cooperation in, among others, exploration and production of hydrocarbons, carbon capture and storage, renewable energy, exchange of knowledge and expertise, and contingency response planning and execution.
The MoU offers Staatsolie the opportunity to use Petrobras' expertise to further develop the Surinamese oil, gas and energy industry in a more sustainable way. At the same time, this will contribute to regional energy security and transition. Annand Jagesar, CEO of Staatsolie, says: “We are delighted with the collaboration that can now take concrete form. Petrobras is a world-renowned company, especially in the technical field.” Petrobras holds more than 1,200 patents.
Petrobras is a Brazilian company and one of the largest oil and gas producers in the world, mainly dedicated to exploration and production, refining, energy generation and marketing. Petrobras has expertise in exploration and production in deep and ultra-deep waters because of almost 50 years of developing Brazil’s offshore basins, leader worldwide in this segment.
