Statkraft lands concession for 150MW Peru solar project
Peru’s energy and mines ministry has granted GR Vale a definitive concession for the US$105mn, 150MW Lupi solar project.
Statkraft Perú-controlled GR Vale requested the concession for the planned photovoltaic park in the district of Carumas, Moquegua region, in December 2022.
In a resolution, the ministry said that Lupi would not impact the development of other projects with definitive concessions in the area.
Statkraft aims to start construction in 2025 and begin operations the following year.
The Norwegian group’s local project portfolio includes wind projects Emma (72MW), Flug (297MW) and Stone (100MW). It already operates nine hydro plants in Peru for a combined 448MW.
In its third quarter earnings report, Statkraft attributed a drop in underlying EBIT to hydrology which caused higher energy purchase to cover commitments from long-term power sales agreements.
The Oslo-based company has also published a low emissions scenario outlook.
