Suptel shuts down US$2mn/month illegal call center

Ecuador's telecoms regulator Suptel has shut down an illegal call center in capital city Quito that was costing state-owned telco Andinatel some US$2mn a month in lost revenues, Suptel said in a statement. The center had four phone lines and routing equipment that disguised international calls as local calls. One person was arrested.
