Suriname to overhaul crude processing infrastructure

Suriname’s push to sustain crude production will require the optimization of fluid handling capacity and efficiency.

That is according to the environmental management and monitoring plan for national oil company Staatsolie’s planned revamp of the Jossiekreek crude treatment facility to 38,000b/d from 25,000b/d.

Jossiekreek, one of two such plants, transports produced fluids to the NOC’s Tout Lui Faut refinery via a 55km pipeline.

“The increase in produced fluid to Jossiekreek Crude Treatment Plant will exceed the existing fluid handling and water treatment capacity of the plant,” highlights the plan, which was submitted to environment and development agency NIMOS.

The company will present the results of the plan, available in the Documents box in the top right corner, on September 11.

Staatsolie is the country’s only producer of oil, which comes from the Tambaredjo, Calcutta and Tambaredjo-Northwest fields in Saramacca district.

The operator reported record output of 6.27Mb last year compared with 6.14Mb in 2022.
