Swedish tech group expands in LatAm with AI for public security, infra
Irisity, a Swedish software provider of AI and video analytics, is increasing its investments in Latin America with a focus on the public security, transportation and mission-critical infrastructure verticals.
“We have created regional structures in the Southern Cone and other parts of Latin America. And now we are hiring for Mexico. All of these initiatives are linked to investments and new business potential that we foresee for the region,” João Paulo Florentino, VP of sales and operations for Latin America, told BNamericas.
Irisity provides AI-powered video analytics software to support surveillance operations across different industry verticals. The firm claims to have over 100,000 devices globally, among cameras and security control rooms, powered by its algorithms.
In Latin America, the client base stands at around 100 customers from the public and private sectors, according to Florentino. The regional revenue growth projection for this year is 50% over 2023, he said, without providing financial figures.
Among the projects under development in the region are C5, also known as CAEPCCM, which operates the Ciudad Segura security program in Mexico City through approximately 30,000 surveillance cameras.
Mexican authorities are now seeking new and enhanced analytics solutions for the program, said Florentino.
In Argentina, Irisity’s software powers 2,000 cameras for the public security program of Vicente López locality in Buenos Aires province.
The company also supplies technology for emergency services in Ecuador and the Dominican Republic, as well as for Uruguayan security company Grupo Securitas.
Florentino said Ecuador’s current security crisis has sparked demand for more powerful video monitoring systems and talks via partners with the country's authorities are being held over expanding the existing project.
Irisity reports customers in over 90 countries with offices in Israel, the US, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Singapore, and the UAE.
In Brazil, where a strong focus is critical infrastructure, the company is in talks over monitoring projects for power substations and airports. Among these are conversations for airport solutions based on more powerful AI algorithms, Florentino said.
Other focus areas in Latin America include mining, ports and public transportation.
The regional strategy includes reinforcing brand awareness and expanding the team, in addition to promoting partnerships with integrators, resellers and camera manufacturers, he said.
The company's go-to-market is indirect, carried out by partners as it operates a global network of resellers, integrators, security companies and camera manufacturers.
Irisity is currently hiring executives for Brazil, Argentina and Mexico.
In Brazil, it brought in commercial director Leandro Miquinioty to head the sales area. And in Argentina, the company hired Alejandro Reich as sales director.
The Swedish firm is also looking to extend alliances that are consolidated globally to Latin America, with brands such as Hanwha, Axis, Intel, Google and video management systems companies.
"We’re very committed to expanding our presence and our projects pipeline in Latin America," said Florentino.
