TAPÉ Project: Public Works will invest USD 100 million in repair and renovation of 316 schools

The TAPÉ Project envisages the comprehensive repair and renovation of 316 existing public schools nationwide, financed by a USD 100 million loan from the World Bank , explained today the Minister of Public Works , Eng. Claudia Centurión, after a meeting held with senators at the headquarters of Congress.
In this regard, the head of the state portfolio stated that work will be carried out in schools that need a major intervention, complete renovation, including the adaptation of dining rooms and other improvements. “The first tenders will be held at the end of this year, with the aim of starting the works in 2025,” she said.
He also reported on the construction of 17 new strategic and emblematic educational centers in the departmental capitals, which will be financed thanks to the recent agreement between Paraguay and Brazil on the Itaipú Binacional tariff.
Of this total, progress is already being made with the planning of the first seven educational centres, whose call for tenders will be made this year. The minister also referred to the renovation of emblematic national schools such as the Colegio Nacional de la Capital, Luque and Saturio Ríos de San Lorenzo.
The meeting held this morning with the President of Congress, Basilio Núñez, and Senators Silvio Ovelar and Natalicio Chase, was to provide a report on the plans and projects executed in collaboration between the Executive and Legislative Branches.
