TDLC public hearings remain on schedule

Chile's supreme court has rejected secondary appeals by mobile operator Smartcom and multi-service provider Chilesat (Telmex) in efforts to postpone public hearings about the merger of rival operators Telefónica Móvil and Bellsouth, a sector source told BNamericas. Chile's antimonopoly regulator TDLC will start public hearings on Tuesday, when it will hear arguments from Telefónica Móvil and BellSouth to approve the merger. The regulator will also hear rival operators' views on how the merger affects their business and the market.
