Telmex exchange offer attracts little interest
Bnamericas Published: Thursday, November 13, 2003
Creditors of Mexico's largest phone company Telmex tendered debentures for only US$1.7mn out of a US$500mn exchange offer, the company said in a statement to the SEC on Monday. Telmex (NYSE: TMX) on October 9 offered to buy back up to US$500mn of its outstanding 4.25% convertible senior debentures due 2004 in order to prevent dilution to current shareholders. The offer expired on November 6. Telmex has about 15.1 million lines in service and reported revenues of 113bn pesos (US$10bn today) in 2002.
