Telsur shareholders approve US$45mn capital increase

Shareholders of Chilean telco Telefonica del Sur (Telsur) approved the issue of new shares worth about US$45mn to finance new investments, the company said in a statement Tuesday. Chilean holding company Quinenco controls Telsur. The company did not reply to emailed questions from BNamericas. Meanwhile, Telsur merged its Telsur Net and Telsur Carrier subsidiaries to create Telefónica del Sur Servicios Intermedios, effective from October 1, local press reported.
