With cross-party support, the Energy Transition project was approved and passed into law, an initiative aimed at promoting measures to advance the decarbonization process of our country's energy matrix.

Energy Minister Diego Pardow highlighted the cross-party support for the initiative approved by 131 votes in favour in the Chamber of Deputies. “I thank the deputies and senators, from the government and the opposition, who supported this project, always thinking of the common good of the inhabitants of their regions,” he said.

"This is a fundamental step for the energy sector that will correct, for example, the delays in transmission works that have affected the productive activity of regions such as Ñuble or Maule," added the authority.

This initiative will help to create the conditions necessary for the efficient development of electrical transmission projects, especially in regions facing production problems due to transmission constraints.

To achieve this, the tendering process for expansion works will be allowed to be transferred to the owners, along with a permanent mechanism for reviewing the investment value of these works. Likewise, a transitional mechanism for reviewing the investment value of investment works that have been halted or are in conflict will be incorporated to allow their construction to continue.

Finally, efforts will be made to speed up the implementation of expansion works (both new and new) that are necessary and urgent for the electrical system, with a special focus on the Ñuble region.
