IFT press release

The Federal Institute of Telecommunications (IFT) carried out, on August 25 of this year, the delivery of three unique concessions and six concession titles of radioelectric spectrum for commercial use to the winning participants of the "Public Tender to concession the use, exploitation and commercial exploitation of segments of radio spectrum available in the Frequency Band 410-415 / 420-425 MHz for the provision of the Specialized Mobile Radiocommunication Service for Fleets (Tender No. IFT-11).”

This is the first time that frequencies for this service have been awarded through a public bidding process, which was open and transparent. As a result of this process, 92 spectrum blocks in 44 of the 65 Basic Service Areas (ABS) into which the country is divided were assigned to the six winning participants of the IFT-11 Tender. It is highlighted that three of the six winners are new entrants in the provision of this service, also known as trunking.

The concessioned blocks will strengthen and expand the supply of these services in Mexico, which may be used in transportation, security, vehicle fleets, logistics, as well as internal communications in industrial areas such as mines, ports, plants, assembly companies and in general for any activity that requires a private mobile communications network, for the benefit of users and the competition.

During the bidding process, the winning participants informed the federal treasury of a total of 5,824,128 pesos for consideration, which derived from the offers submitted during the bid submission procedure for the 92 assigned blocks.

With the allocation of more spectrum and the entry of new service providers, competition is strengthened, and the options of those who use these telecommunications services are expanded.
