The secondary infra projects Mexico's Sheinbaum pledged to finish

Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum promised to finish certain secondary infrastructure projects her predecessor, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, started.

Infrastructure, communications and transport minister Jesús Esteva spoke during Sheinbaum’s Thursday morning press conference and listed nine highway and 10 mobility projects that are yet to be completed.

Sheinbaum said these works will require few funds in 2025, but in 2026 the infrastructure budget will increase due to the start of her own flagship projects.

“Very little of those works are left for 2025 which will require some funds and on the other hand all the new projects will begin: The Mexico City-Querétaro train, the Mexico City-Pachuca train, and the works to expand them to reach the [US] border on the Gulf and on the Pacific frontiers, these are strategic works for this presidential term,” she said

Given that López Obrador’s flagship projects like the Maya train and the interoceanic corridor are almost finished, the related jobs will then go to the housing construction sector, which has a significant budget, she said.
