The seventh variant of the Shushufindi-Quito polyduct was built

Machine translation was used to publish the following Petroecuador release
For eleven days, EP Petroecuador technicians worked on a variant of the route on which the Shushufindi-Quito pipeline operated, towards the right of way of the Trans-Ecuadorian Pipeline System (SOTE). This, in order to prevent damage to the infrastructure due to the advance of regressive erosion of the Quijos River and its tributaries.
This infrastructure transports fuel derivatives, such as Diesel 2, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and gasoline.
The construction was carried out in the Loco River area, province of Napo. The variant of the polyduct has a length of 637 meters and its purpose is to mitigate the risks of regressive erosion.
The construction work was carried out between June 22 and July 2, 2024. Machinery, welding equipment and all the necessary materials were mobilized to fulfill the plan.
The Shushufindi-Quito pipeline transports a monthly average of 157,683 barrels per day.
The new pipeline was interconnected to the existing one, guaranteeing normal operation, which allowed supply to the terminals to be maintained.
Once the work was completed, all regulatory technical and safety procedures were followed, including ultrasound and hydrostatic tests.
