The tenders Chile’s Enap plans to launch through 1Q25

Bnamericas

Chile’s state oil and gas company Enap outlined multiple tenders planned for the rest of the year and 1Q25, among them one for exploration work.

The company operates in the E&P, transport and storage and refining segments, with extraction operations carried out in far-south region Magallanes.

Procurement processes correspond to a 2023-27 investment plan of US$3.5bn which CEO Julio Friedmann, during a supplier event, described as “extremely ambitious.”

Among the services being sought is 3D seismic acquisition. Enap is looking for a party to conduct work, involving around 941km2, at the Arenal and Dorado Riquelme blocks in 2H25. Enap may put acquisition and processing work out to tender jointly or separately, according to a presentation.

Another tender involves flowback work associated with fracking projects in the region.

Enap recently submitted for environmental review a US$300mn drilling project. The firm plans to drill up to 98 wells, both exploratory and development, according to documents filed with environmental review agency SEA. Work, penciled in to start in April 2025, also involves platform construction and road building and upgrading, among other components.

Earlier this year, Enap launched tenders for oilfield services provision in Magallanes.

The firm, meanwhile, is also looking for a contractor to carry out roadbuilding and maintenance work on its Magallanes network, which extends around 1,700km, according to the supplier event presentation.

Enap is also offering a contract covering Magallanes electricity system work, encompassing areas including low and medium-voltage networks.

Tender participation

During the supplier event, Enap officials held a poll to determine what are the three biggest obstacles to tender process participation.

Respondents identified the top three as a lack of knowledge of evaluation criteria, the number of requisites needed to participate and communication matters.

Suggestions for improvements were also made, among them automation of processes and simplification of the supplier registration and paperwork submission procedures.

Enap officials are working in various improvement areas and will analyze feedback, the event heard.
