They reiterate commitment to approve a General Water Law in El Salvador

This Legislative Assembly release was published using machine translation.
The deputies who make up the Committee on the Environment and Climate Change took up the analysis of the proposed legislation that regulates the rights of use, exploitation, protection and conservation of water.
In this context, they agreed to establish a methodology to speed up the study of each chapter, taking into account a comparative matrix of five proposals presented to this Parliament.
The president of the commission, Deputy Martha Evelyn Batres (ARENA), explained that it is a good time to work on the development of a law that guarantees that the entire population obtains the vital liquid, a regulation that comes to develop a regulatory framework on the water management as a national asset.
Deputy Dina Argueta (FMLN) stressed that it is of the utmost importance that the country has the instrument that guides the strategies and actions to ensure the equitable and sustainable use of water, its quality and the processes that allow to reverse environmental deterioration of the hydrographic basins in the country.
In the same context, Deputy Raúl Beltrán (PCN) stated that it is imperative to approve the water law because it is a human, public, inalienable, imprescriptible right, inherent to the human person; therefore, he proposed to meet twice a week.
The common purpose presented in the study matrix is to regulate the comprehensive management of continental, island and marine waters within the national territory and whatever their location, physical state, quality or natural condition, in order to guarantee the sustainability of the right to water, in addition to establishing an entity that orders, articulates the uses and uses of the vital liquid.
In addition, the implementation of an alternative mechanism is proposed to supply the communities, through water reservoirs, which work with the treatment of the water that rains.
