Thumbs up for pending deals from 800MW Dominican Rep tender

The Dominican Republic’s power distributors have been authorized to sign contracts in the process to supply up to 800MW from new natural gas-fired plants.

The greenlight follows approval by power regulator SIE of the power purchase agreements to be signed between EdeSur, EdeNorte and EdeEste, and awardee Nexgen Capital and its project company, Generadora San Felipe.

The watchdog previously approved PPAs to be inked between the distributors and the other winner, Energía 2000.

The Consejo Unificado de las Empresas Distribuidoras de Electricidad (CUED), which represents the distributors, launched the call (EDES-LPI-NG-04-2023) last year.

The economic offers submitted by Nexgen Capital and Energía 2000 are shown below.
