Rio de Janeiro, June 14, 2024 - TIM reached a significant achievement: it surpassed the mark of 300 municipalities connected with fifth generation technology. With this recent expansion, the operator consolidates its leadership in 5G, reaching 321 cities across the country.

During the months of April and May, TIM activated 5G in 55 new locations, covering states such as Bahia, Ceará, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Maranhão, Paraíba, Paraná, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Santa Catarina and Sergipe. This expansion reflects the company's commitment to providing comprehensive, high-quality coverage to its customers, ensuring a better experience when using data.

TIM Brasil's Network Director, Homero Salum, states that the operator is committed to offering its customers robust coverage and has been continuously working to expand its network. According to him, this expansion, in addition to consolidating 5G leadership in the country, brings several benefits to customers and society in general. “The arrival of 5G technology not only improves connectivity for users, but also boosts the economic and social development of connected cities and regions.”

In the spirit of June festivities

In the atmosphere of June festivities, the highlight is the arrival of new technology in São Francisco do Conde (BA), in the Metropolitan Region of the capital Salvador (BA). Also in Bahia, TIM's 5G network was activated in Santo Antônio de Jesus (BA), in Recôncavo Baiano, and in Dias d'Ávila (BA), also called Capital das Águas and part of the Camaçari industrial hub.

In the Southeast, the historic city of São João Del Rei (MG) is one of four locations in Minas Gerais that now have TIM's fifth generation network. In São Paulo, the municipality of Itapetininga, the third largest in the state in terms of territorial size, also received 5G.

A protagonist in 5G, TIM operates with more than 8,000 antennas in the country. With speeds that can reach up to 1Gbps, 5G not only improves mobile connectivity, but also boosts the local economy, favoring industrial automation, access to essential services and the growth of the digital economy.
