Tower One grows LatAm footprint by over 30 sites in two months
Telecom infrastructure company Tower One Wireless deployed 33 new sites in October and November in Colombia and Ecuador, two of its core Latin American markets.
With these additions, the company’s backlog reached 492 active sites, with 535 tenants (users per site), according to Tower One’s construction reports.
In November, 14 towers were built, all in Colombia.
The new structures deployed for mobile carriers were mostly macro towers, some of which 85m tall, in both urban and rural areas of Valle Del Cauca, Antioquia, Nariño, Tolima and Chocó.
Further 19 towers were built in October, 18 of which in Colombia and one in Ecuador (an urban rooftop site in Guayaquil).
Founded in Canada and currently headquartered in New York, Tower One has built 624 towers since 2015 in Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Argentina and in the US. Of total towers built, 492 are currently in service.
The company is targeting 1,000 sites by the end of 2024.
Tower One's main Latin American tenants are, in order of occupancy, Telefónica, Tigo and WOM, followed by Claro, DirecTV, Altán and CFE.
