Tower One Wireless deploys new towers in Colombia, Ecuador
Canada’s Tower One Wireless deployed 12 telecoms towers in Colombia and Ecuador in March, according to the company’s construction reports.
In February, Tower One deployed 13 towers and nine in March 2022.
Of the new sites, 11 were in Colombia and one in Ecuador. As is standard, the towers have a 10-year rental period and are greenfield projects. They are also a mix of rural and urban towers.
The Colombian towers were deployed in Nuqui, Novita, Carmen Del Darien, Bajo Baudo (two sites), all in Chocó department. Towers were also built in San Carlos and Ituango (Antioquia), as well as two in Cali (Valle del Cauca), and Rabo Largo and San Antonio (Bolivar).
The Ecuadoran site was deployed in Santa Elena.
With the new deployments,Tower One ended Q1 with 386 towers in its core markets of Colombia, Ecuador and Mexico, with 424 tenants (number of customer leases per site).
Of the total towers in operation, 308 are in Colombia, 71 in Ecuador and seven in Mexico.
All these towers involve the build-to-suit model, which means constructing the towers after a long-term leasing contract is signed with a mobile carrier.
The group also said that four towers were completed in February under the build-as-a-service vertical, which is when the company makes the structure available prior to demand and signing contracts, providing turnkey solutions from acquisition to integration. In this case, all sites were finished in Colombia.
The company's main clients are Telefónica, which is a tenant for roughly 44% of its sites, Millicom’s Tigo Colombia (29%), WOM Colombia (21%), Claro Colombia (3%), Mexico’s Altán Redes (1%), Mexico’s CFE (1%), and DirecTV Colombia (1%).
