Tower One Wireless deploys new towers in Ecuador, Colombia

Canada-based Tower One Wireless built 14 towers for telecom operators in Colombia and Ecuador in November, one more than in October, according to the group’s latest construction report.

With that, Tower One reached 334 towers deployed in its core markets of Colombia, Ecuador and Mexico, and 367 tenants for those sites. Tenants refer to the number of customer leases per tower. One customer leasing space in five towers counts as five tenants.

During November, Tower One deployed seven towers each in Colombia and Ecuador. All of the sites have a rental period of 10 years and correspond to greenfield projects. They are spread across both urban and rural regions.

In Colombia, the new towers were deployed in Valle del Cauca (Cali department), Taraza (Antioquia), Bajo Baudo and Litoral del San Juan (Chocó).

In Ecuador, they were all set up in the Guayas province, in the localities of Durán, Samborondon and provincial capital Guayaquil.

Tower One focuses solely on a build-to-suit strategy for mobile carriers, which means it only builds the towers after a long-term leasing contract is signed.

Its main clients are Telefónica, which is a tenant for roughly 38% of its sites, WOM Colombia (31%), Millicom’s Tigo Colombia (24%), Mexico’s Altán Redes (4%), Claro Colombia (3%) and DirecTV Colombia (1%).

Other clients include AT&T in Mexico and CNT in Ecuador.
