Tower One Wireless expands footprint in Colombia, Ecuador

Telecoms tower operator Tower One Wireless built 13 towers during September in its core markets Colombia and Ecuador, according to its latest construction outlook report.

Nine towers were deployed in Colombia and four in Ecuador, while 43 towers are under construction in these two countries. The company also completed the sale of 28 towers during the same period.

All sites are developed for specific clients and have 10-year leasing contract terms.

Between January and September, Tower One deployed 131 wireless sites in its main Latin American markets Colombia, Ecuador and Mexico, ending the third quarter with 307 total towers.

The company previously said it expected to complete the construction of another 168 towers in July-December of this year, ending 2022 with 450 in total.

NEW SITES

Three new towers were deployed in Colombia’s Antioquia department and six in Chocó.

In Ecuador, all four new sites were set up in districts of Guayaquil, Guayas province.

The company said it now has 338 tower tenants (leasing users) for its sites in operation.

Its mains clients in service are Telefónica, which is a tenant for 38% of its sites, WOM Colombia (31%), Millicom’s Tigo Colombia (24%), Mexico’s Altán Redes (4%), Claro Colombia (3%) and DirecTV Colombia (1%). 

Other clients include AT&T in Mexico and CNT in Ecuador.
