Transpetro announced this Wednesday (11/9) that its second solar plant is expected to start operating in the first half of 2025. The plant will be built at the terminal operated by the company in Belém (PA) and is part of the company's decarbonization and energy efficiency strategy in its operations. The information was released by the executive manager of Logistics Integrations, Adriana Andrade, during the XX Conference of Operators of Oil and Monobuoy Maritime Terminals (SLOM), which will take place in Uruguay, between September 11 and 13.
“A few months after the delivery of the Guarulhos solar plant in São Paulo, I am pleased to say that we are moving forward with this project, which is a pioneering project for industrial plants in the Petrobras System. The new plant in Belém is part of Transpetro’s commitment to the energy transition. We are moving forward with our decarbonization plans, prioritizing sustainability in our strategic decisions,” says Adriana.
The project is expected to reach a working power of 530 kW, with sufficient power generation capacity to fully meet the terminal's operations in Belém. This volume is equivalent to the monthly consumption of approximately 140 homes. The plant is estimated to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30 tons per year.
In April, Transpetro inaugurated the first and only photovoltaic solar plant in the Petrobras System to be powered entirely by solar energy. Installed at the Guarulhos Terminal (SP), the plant will prevent the emission of more than 240 tons of greenhouse gases each year. The Coari Terminal (AM) is also expected to receive a photovoltaic plant.
