Trinasolar, a leading global provider of comprehensive smart photovoltaic energy solutions, actively participated, through Trina Storage, in the Energy Storage Summit Latin America 2024. This is the third time that the global energy storage event has come to the Latin American region, choosing Chile as its destination, given its leadership in storage in recent years. The summit brought together industry experts and established itself as the ideal space to discuss the future of energy storage in the energy transition scenario that the region is experiencing, with the country leading the way thanks to its 1.3 GW of operational projects and 6.4 GW under development.
During the summit, the BESS business unit presented its innovative energy storage solutions, receiving a very positive response from attendees. “There was great interest in learning about our products, especially our self-manufactured lithium cells and Elementa 2, our container technically validated by the renowned Norwegian company DNV, thanks to its great financial viability, reliability, performance and successful global deployment,” said Vicente Walker, Business Development Manager for Trina Storage in Latin America and the Caribbean. “Chile is poised for accelerated growth in this sector, and at Trinasolar we are ready to support that process with a team of more than 25 people specialized in BESS at a regional level.”
Vicente Walker also participated in a debate on the energy transition bill proposed by the government and the country's electrical institutions. "Without storage, there is no transition. That is why, at Trina Storage, we have established a solid team in Chile, which, together with our product, is ready to demonstrate that BESS systems are the most efficient, scalable and technologically mature response to resolve the different obstacles presented by this growing challenge that is the national energy transition," said the manager.
Luciano Silva, Engineering Manager at Trina Storage, who gave a presentation on the company's technical, human and infrastructure capabilities in Chile and the region, added: "Our goal is to offer truly complete solutions. To do so, the company has decided to enter storage with vertical integration in manufacturing, that is, manufacturing batteries from cell to container in a proprietary manner, as well as horizontal integration in terms of its integration, delivery and maintenance capabilities for large-scale BESS plants. That is why, at the Summit, we placed special emphasis on projecting ourselves as key players in supporting new projects from the early stages to the operation and maintenance of the asset."
The company took the opportunity to highlight its competitive advantages in the market, its future role in decarbonisation and potential solutions to current energy disposal problems, through the multiple benefits of batteries in generation projects. Trina Storage's participation in the summit reaffirms its commitment to the LAC region and its goal of promoting a cleaner and more sustainable energy future through comprehensive, innovative and efficient storage solutions.
