Trinidad oil, gas service provider eyeing Suriname
Trinidad and Tobago-headquartered oil and gas industry service provider Tiger Tanks plans to widen its regional footprint to include Suriname.
Tiger, which already operates in neighboring Guyana, filed an environmental impact study (EIS) for a waste management plant at the former Suralco refinery in Paranam, Para district.
“The current exploration activities and impending commencement in the production of oil and gas in 2027/28 from Surinamese offshore oil fields necessitate the need for a waste management facility of this nature,” the EIS, submitted to the country’s environment and development agency NIMOS, reads.

“Suriname lacks suitable waste management facilities for the treatment of waste from offshore drilling companies,” according to Tiger.
The plant would include an incinerator system, vertical infrared desorption unit system/direct-fired thermal desorption unit, wash bay with oil-water separator sump, and slop pit with mixing bay for blending of wastes.
