Trinidad upstream operators preparing drill, seismic work

Touchstone Exploration, which touts itself to be Trinidad and Tobago’s largest independent onshore hydrocarbons producer, has requested environmental approval for a drill project.

Information from the Environmental Management Authority (EMA) shows that the company submitted a certificate of environmental clearance (CEC) application to spud six wells at block CO-1 (Coora).

The acreage was Touchstone’s second highest crude oil and liquids contributor in the second quarter and first half of 2024.

For its part, Amoco Trinidad Gas filed a CEC application to conduct a 3D seismic survey at offshore block 5(b), home to the Manakin natural gas field.

The BP-controlled operator said the work would overlap blocks 5(D), 6(D), East Mayaro and 27 within a deepwater area of 228km2.

BP is the Caribbean nation’s principal gas producer.
