A further two electric power generators in Peru are interested in take or pay contracts that state power company Electroperu will offer for gas from the Camisea natural gas project, mines and energy minister Carlos Herrera Descalzi said. "Generator Etevensa is still interested. Two other companies are awaiting to see the conditions set by special privatization committee Cepri and privatization committee Copri to formalize their interest," he said. Herrera also said Colombian gas distributor Promigas intended to take gas from Camisea to 70,000 clients. The cpyis still undecided on whether to start supplying etablished residential areas or marginal areas first, he added. Herrera said Peru wanted gas to substitute as far as possible oil derivatives, and though condensates could also be used for this substitution, it was more convenient to export this to improve the balance of payments.
