PRESS RELEASE from Adolfo Ibáñez University
March 2025
Leaders from the academy will meet in a talk on reliability and resilience of the National Electric System, organized by the Faculty of Engineering and Sciences, and the Faculty of Law of the Adolfo Ibáñez University. The meeting is in hybrid format, on Friday, March 7, at 9:00 am, at UAI Presidente Errázuriz headquarters, Las Condes. Free registration.
The activity is led by the Master's and Diploma in Regulation, from the Center for Energy Transition (CENTRA). The following will participate as speakers: Vivianne Blanlot, economist and former secretary of the National Energy Commission; Claudia Rahmann, director engineer of the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Chile; Rodrigo Castillo, academic director of the Master's and Diploma in Regulation at UAI; and Daniel Olivares, PhD. in electrical engineering and director of the UAI civil engineering in energy program.
Claudio Seebach, dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Sciences at UAI and moderator of the activity, said: "Following the massive interruptions in the electricity supply that occurred in August 2024 and last Tuesday, February 25, it is relevant to ask whether the electricity regulation and the operation of its institutions and the tariff remuneration model are prepared to face the resilience challenges facing the national electricity system in a context of accelerated energy transition and accentuation of climate change."
