UASD presents conclusions and recommendations Congress on Economy and Energy

The event, which lasted three years and included the participation of national and international exhibitors, reached the following conclusions and recommendations, among which are: the need to increase solar photovoltaic capacity, tripling the installed capacity by 2025, quintuple that amount by 2030 and triple the capacity by 2040 compared to 2030; as well as tripling it by 2050 compared to 2040.

In addition, the congress spokesmen pointed out that in 2060 with respect to 2050. The goals are summarized in a percentage of participation of renewables under this scheme: 30% for 2030, 40% for 2040, 50% for 2050 and 60% for 2060.

They stressed the urgency of drafting the Nuclear Law to regulate the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes in the Dominican Republic

Other conclusions and recommendations included promoting competition in electricity generation, implementing public policies that encourage competition between electricity generating companies through public tenders, and holding competitive auctions to avoid privileges and tenders with preferred actors through competitive auctions for electricity generation.

They proposed defining a strategy to have the possibility of using electro-nuclear energy starting in 2040, in addition to strengthening the Electric Regulator, to avoid conflicts of interest by strengthening the independence of the electric regulator.

In addition, update the role of the Dominican Petroleum Refinery and review and update the role of the refinery to improve the price structure for fuel imports and transportation, renew deficient generating plants and renew those generating plants that are inefficient.

They called for the development of sustainable infrastructure and major investments, including smart grids, efficient public transport and eco-efficient buildings, to reduce carbon emissions and create jobs in green sectors.
