Ufinet expands LatAm footprint with 4th Brazilian acquisition

Bnamericas

Madrid-based Ufinet, the largest fiber optic infrastructure wholesale operator in Latin America, is expanding its dark fiber footprint with the acquisition of Brazilian provider Ava.

The deal, for an undisclosed amount, was announced on social media by Álvaro Britto, country manager of Ufinet Brasil. IT Investimentos was the exclusive financial advisor to Ava in the sale of its shares to Ufinet.

Ava is Ufinet’s fourth acquisition in Brazil and its second in 2024 alone.

According to Britto, Ufinet's "commitment to the investment in Brazil's internet infrastructure remains stronger than ever."

In May, Ufinet bought Minas Geris-based WIX NET, an operator specialized in telecommunications solutions and services for internet providers with 2,500km of network deployed.

Ufinet also acquired Netell Telecom in 2019 and NB Telecom in 2021.

Based in São Paulo, Ava has over 3,000km of fiber backbone deployed across the state.

Its footprint will now add to the over 4,500km of network that Ufinet operates in Brazil and over 120,000km in Latin America.
