Um Telecom’s Recife datacenter to begin construction in Q3

Brazilian telco Um Telecom’s datacenter in Recife, the capital of Pernambuco state, will begin construction in Q3 and be ready for service in late 2025, according to CEO Rui Gomes.

The B2B telecoms company is investing 150 million reais (US$27.8mn) in the project, said Gomes in a social media post.

In an April interview with BNamericas, COO Daniel Gomes said that the datacenter is designed to have three phases, starting with capacity for up to 150 racks and useful IT power of up to 1MW in one data hall. The second and third stages will add 300 racks each.

“Within a radius of 800km from Recife, I can reach the major capital cities in the region, and that’s critical for content delivery and latency. That's why we decided on this project,” the COO said at the time.
