Urca Trading, an associate of the Urca Energia Group, announced the entry into the retail modality of the Free Contracting Environment (ACL) or Free Energy Market, which will be opened from January 2024 to all medium and high voltage consumers. With an investment of R$ 5 million and operations throughout the national territory, the company's target is small industries and retailers. The forecast is to reach around 2,000 customers by the end of 2024.

The Urca Energia Group already operates today in several areas of the clean and renewable energy segment. With the arrival of Urca Trading in the retail modality of Mercado Livre de Energia, the group's objective is to operate in market niches aimed at customers with a monthly bill of at least 10 thousand reais.

“The opening of the Free Energy Market is a major transformation for the Brazilian economy and will make industries and retail more competitive. Urca Trading will offer a simple and bureaucratic solution for those who want to migrate, carrying out the entire process with the Electricity Trading Chamber (CCEE)”, explains the CEO of Urca Trading, Dante Beneveni.

In operations at ACL, Urca Trading will deliver I-Recs, a certificate that tracks and proves the renewable origin of the energy contracted by the client, and a renewable energy seal. Together, the seal and certificate guarantee the origin of the renewable energy consumed and prove the company's GHG emission compensation. The seal is crucial in companies' emission inventories and communication to end customers, who are increasingly concerned about engaging the entire chain in the NetZero journey.

Opening the free market to all companies linked to medium and high voltage is an important step towards democratizing access to electricity in the country. But, in addition to increasing competitiveness, the change can accelerate the journey of Brazilian companies towards the energy transition.

"Urca Trading is focused on promoting the decarbonization of Brazilian companies. In this way, the expansion of renewable sources in the country will be a natural consequence of the opening of the ACL, since more consumers will be able to consume this type of energy, with the need to expand the offer. And that's when our portfolio comes in, to further boost the NetZero journey of our economy", concludes Dante.
