US group after support contract for 300MW Guyana plant
Guyana’s government received one offer to supply, install and commission a Scada system as part of the country's gas-to-energy project.
The sole bidder was US-based OSI, an AspenTech unit, with a bid of US$9.97mn, according to the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board.
The prime minister’s office and the natural resources ministry are managing the call with support from Guyana Power and Light. Prequalification began last December.
The system is for the new transmission and generation control center and is a prerequisite for the planned 300MW plant.
The platform must be “capable of withstanding increasing levels of reliability of the electrical power system and its expected demand growth that is tied to the country's GDP growth due to the oil production expansion beyond the next decade,” according to authorities.
