Usinas Brasil Solar begins construction of new plants

Usinas Brasil Solar (BRS) has begun construction of the Jacarandá-Bebedouro and Rio Novon PV solar projects in São Paulo and Minas Gerais, totaling an investment of 33mn reais (US$6.54mn), according to the company’s press office.

CPFL Paulista will distribute the energy from Jacarandá-Bebedouro and Energisa from Rio Novon.

Jacarandá-Bebedouro’s installed capacity will be 3.88MW, enough to supply an average of 3,000 homes, with average generation of 7,500MWh/y. The modules will be supplied by Risen, the transformers by Tamura and the skids and trackers by MTR Solar.

The Rio Novo plant is in Rio Novo municipality with installed capacity of 3.17MW and projected generation of 5,700MWh/y.

Meanwhile, in the northeast, BRS is moving forward with its first solar power plant in Ceará state, in Quixeré municipality. With projected initial investment of 30mn reais, the Guaraci UFV has projected capacity of 6.62MW and will generate 13,591MWh/y. Work is scheduled to be completed by March 2024.

In August, BRS began operating the Avelar 1 and 2 plants (pictured) in Rio de Janeiro.

The company has a project pipeline involving over 40MW. The most advanced plants are Consolação 1 and 2, with total estimated capacity of 2MW, in Minas Gerais.

With the four plants, BRS will have enough energy to supply more than 10,000 homes. 

This year, BRS will implement a further 13.5MW of projects in the states of Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and Bahia, ready to attract investors.
