Valparaíso port concessionaire receives extension
Empresa Portuaria de Valparaíso (EPV), Chile's state-owned port operator, extended the concession contract for Terminal Pacífico Sur (TPS) until 2029. TPS is responsible for developing, maintaining and operating the main terminal of the port. EPV also approved TPS's project to improve one of the terminal's berths.
Signed in 1999, the contract was slated to expire in 2019, but received a 10-year extension ahead of time, a filing from the concessionaire to securities regulator SVSshows.
EPV also approved TPS' investment project that entails expanding Site 3 and reinforcing Sites 4 and 5 of the terminal's berth No. 1, the company said.
Gonzalo Davagnino, EPV's CEO, explained the extension was granted due to TPS' interest in carrying the upgrade project, for which the concessionaire presented the required documentation two weeks ago.
