VIDEO: LatAm Infrastructure Outlook 2024
Economic restrictions and political complications will heavily influence the advance of Latin America’s infrastructure sector in 2024.
In broad terms, the high cost of financing will continue as interest rates are likely to stay elevated in many countries, restraining economic growth, though mild trends of slowing inflation and GDP improvement are expected across the region.
In that sense, it appears that most nations are overcoming the post-pandemic slump and for many, the biggest risks are now centered on politics. Political upheaval and its wake will characterize much of the region to the detriment of progress in the infrastructure sector, with the notable exception of Brazil, which is slated for record investment levels.
These circumstances and the opportunities in Latin America in 2024 are detailed in BNamericas’ Infrastructure Outlook 2024 report, with further insight available in this video where we discuss the economic and political environment for investments in the sector and how industry players can improve resilience to face challenges with Andrés Canela, CEO of Schrader Camargo (in Spanish).
The report also outlines 131 projects in the road, rail, port, airport and potable/wastewater segments that are scheduled to enter the construction stage by the end of 2023 or during 2024, as identified by BNamericas’ Project Profile Database. Roadworks lead the pipeline with 67 projects requiring a total US$21.3 billion.
